In this video, I will share 5 productivity tools that I am using to get things done as a research student. Completing a Ph.D. degree is more like a 9 to 5 job With a heavy workload and other life commitments, it’s important that you have all the necessary tools you need to boost your productivity and make time for yourself. Personally, I use five major productivity tools that I will talk about shortly. These productivity tools help me stay on top of my studies and I believe these best free productivity tools will help you get more done.
S A V E T I M E R E F E R E N C I N G W I T H Z O T E R O Zotero is a free and open-source referencing application that exists within the Web browser and allows one to collect, manage, store, and cite resources in a single location. Zotero automatically imports citation information from several sources, including web-based databases such as Taylor and Francis, IEEE, google scholar, and the likes…. One place for everything in your Research life.
O N E P L A C E F O R E V E R Y T H I N G I N Y O U R R E S E A R C H L I F E To get work done from anywhere, across your devices, you need access to all your files – online and offline. OneDrive enables you to synchronize your content to your PC and Mac so you can easily and securely access files anytime—even when you are offline. Once you’re back online, your new files and edits will sync to OneDrive automatically.

I just find using these sticky notes handy and it works for me. I sometimes use them for my to-do list because it allows you to strike out the tasks that you have completed. The best part is that you can still go back to them months after if you’re looking for something that’s why I prefer them to the typical sticky post-it note which might get lost after a while.

Temi is an online speech-to-text transcription tool. Since my research work required a lot of transcribing. I use Temi and in my personal opinion, Temi is the best option for people who want their recording transcribed quickly and inexpensively.

As a researcher, there’s a good chance you’re keeping lots of balls in the air. To keep track of all your jobs (both-PhD related or otherwise) it’s a good idea to find a task management app that works for you. There are many free apps out there, but Trello is perhaps one of the most visual and user-friendly.
